Description

This is an 8 hour course that includes a classroom education section, practical range training, and an exam. Lunch will be provided and is included in the tuition charge. The NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, and local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course.

Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will also be given handouts regarding the CPL application process and handgun purchasing, reciprocity, county specific CPL information, and more. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be issued a Certification of Completion to satisfy the training requirement set forth by Michigan Law.
